Our last spring form leaked badly. So we decided to get rid of it and replace it with a leak proof new one. After some research we ordered this one, though, with a little trepidation since there were comments in the reviews about leaking. But it looked good, so we ordered it through Amazon. Today my wife used it for the first time baking a Linzer Torte. And as feared, the fancy Lekue leaked (is Lekue a misspelled anagramm of leak?). Not as bad as the old one, but bad enough. We have not decided yet if we'll return it or not.Two months laterUnfortunately we did not return it in time. We used it again today and it leaked like a sieve. Of course, a spring form is difficult to produce so that it does not leak, but then the manufacturer should not call it leak proof. I'm giving it a one star because it looks beautiful, as long as you don't use it.

I've had ambivalent feelings and mixed results concerning silicone bakeware, specifically cake pans in the past, but the look of this thing was so intriguing that I ordered one. It is much better looking than its more popular and more expensive red version. I've used it several times and it has not leaked, but baking times need to be extended from metal pan times as is the case with most silicone (something the manufacturers fail to tell you). Have not yet used it in a water bath, the true acid test, and when I do I'll likely wrap the bottom in foil as I would a metal pan for an extra layer of security. I've read reviews for the red model that complain of leakage. I've found that if you carefully check the seal when you attach the sides to the porcelain base there is no leakage. Easy to use and easy to clean.I've only used it with cake batter and experienced no leakages. I've always lightly oiled the sides but I don't think there is a need.The ceramic plate is a bonus for even cooking and quick oven to table serving.
