I bought one of these pans for $[...] in a catalog, and was kicking myself after trying it for not getting a second one. When I went back to order another for myself and one for a friend, they had sold out. An internet search proved successful, but as much as I loved it, I didn't want to spend $19.99 plus shipping, so I never did order a second one. However, the more I used it, the more I wanted at least one more, so back to the internet I went, and finally found it on the Lillian Vernon website on sale for $[...] and on the Harriet Carter site for $[...]. YAY!!! They are hard to find, and getting harder, which is a shame because they are incredible! The pan is made from carbon steel, it is very sturdy and durable but not really heavy, with a non-stick coating (not dishwasher safe). It is a breeze to clean, NOTHING sticks to this pan, no need for non-stick spray, even with the stickiest of recipes. I have used it to make a variety of things, not just brownies, so think outside the box when baking. I have made corn bread in it, as well as yeast bread, gingerbread, bread pudding, biscuits, cakes, cinnamon rolls...you name it. It cooks so evenly, and has produced some of the best recipes I have ever made, especially the yeast breads. They came out so perfectly browned and evenly cooked, so yummy! My family loves the home made 'sub' rolls for all kinds of sandwiches. It also works well for meatloaf and other recipes of that sort.Negatives...well, if you are really adverse to hand washing I guess you could say that might be a negative, but honestly, this thing practically wipes clean. As mentioned in another review, the narrow channels can be a little tricky when filling, but it's worth the extra effort. I have a gas stove and found I need to reduce the heat by about 25 degrees for recipes, as the dark pan does cook faster. Aside from that, the big price tag here on Amazon is a bit of a negative, but even at that price, I would invest in at least 2, they will last, they are versatile, and they work really, really well! Highly recommended! (The price has come down at Amazon since I purchased this item, the reduced price of $9.99 is a great deal!!!)

This is a well made pan that did a great job of baking my brownies. I sprayed the pan with Pam and they released the brownies and cleaned up with ease. I wound up with brownies that have 2 or 3 edges, depending on whether they're a corner brownie or one in the middle. If that is your highest priority, then buy without hesitation.Note that you will need a narrow spatula to get into the slots/chambers - the spatula shown in the picture does NOT come with the pan. I was able to use the edge of a small spatula typically used for scraping batter out of a bowl to get the brownies out of the pan. If the non-stick part of the pan ever becomes less effective, removing the brownies may become a little more difficult - but so far this has not been a problem. The reason I rated them a 3 is that while the pan itself is great, I believe it should have been made with a fourth row, even if it meant the pan was larger than 9X13. I believe most of us will be using this plan for recipes originally intended for a 9x13 pan. If you put all the batter for that recipe in this pan, the brownies will wind up being taller that the recipe anticipates, so you have to adjust your cooking time. If you can remember how high the brownies would typically fill the traditional 9x13 pan and fill to that level, you'll wind up with extra batter and will need to use the pan for a second batch that won't fill all the slots or chambers. I'm not sure how the pan will react to that, as some pans will warp a little - or you get a weird baked on film.As a result, I'll use this for some of the brownies and bar cookies I make, but definitely not all. I may look at some of the other pans to see if you can use all the batter for recipes in them, which would be more functional for the type of baking I do.

It's a wonder that no one ever thought of this before, but I'm delighted to have it now. This pan fits a standard brownie recipe for a 13x9 inch pan. It bakes evenly and well, although (for fudgy brownies) I cut back on baking time about 1-2 minutes since I was afraid it would dry up too much, and this worked fine. The pan is easy to clean, no more trouble than a regular pan. Before ordering, I had wondered if this pan was the same as the ones being advertised as lasagna pans. I believe the answer is no. The lasagna pan has slightly wider channels, and is a little deeper than the brownie pan.It should be noted that the spatula which, as of today, is still pictured and described in the text, is no longer included by the manufacturer. I contacted the seller and they are trying to change the page to reflect that. So, be aware, that you only get the pan.
