There are professional cake levelers that cost hundreds of dollars. As a professional baker, this product works just fine. If the cake has a tough crust, you will obviously need to score it with a serrated knife and then the leveler works just fine. I purchased a leveler that cost 3 x this price and this one by far isa superior product. There is nothing worse than an uneven layered cake that you are trying to stack.

The first time I used it, the metal string snapped. Good thing they give you a spare. It would work a whole lot better if they put a serrated blade on it instead of the wire.
