I use this ring to cut 8 inch layer cakes from a half sheet pan and it works great! You cut out two full circles and two half moons to make a third layer. You will find the third layer is not quite as large as the other two when you put the two half moons together, so you make it the middle layer and fill in the gap with scraps. Baking the cake in a half sheet pan lined with parchment takes less time to bake and less time to cool. You build your cake inside the ring and frost the top, using an offset spatula to level off frosting at the top of the ring. Pull off the ring, and your top layer of frosting is smooth and level and all you have to do is frost sides. Great product!

The only negative isn't arrived with a liite what looks like rust on their side. I just covered with some tape but it would've been nice if quality cntrol did a better job. Still with that said, cakes are being cooked init just assembled sots not a huge deal. Good solid quality. But from thati wold highly reccomendit. Perhaps just my one.
