With 3-inch-high handcrafted straight sides, the pan helps achieve the precise edges necessary for a flawless wedding cake. Hand-spun aluminum construction ensures even heat distribution and a light golden brown surface ideal for icing and decorating. The pure aluminum siding does require greasing and flouring before baking to ensure easy cake release. The thick, high-quality design is both durable and reliable; Wilton has such faith in these pans that the company provides a lifetime warranty.Instructions and baking tips on the packaging detail how much batter and icing to use for various cake sizes, as well as how long to bake layers of varying heights. The 3-inch-high pan sides accommodate up to a 2-3/4-inch-high layer cake when baked; ordinary bakeware can't provide the depth or superior performance this pan does. --Emily Wolf

Reviews

great for cheesecake
Paul Hager

This is a great pan for cheesecakes that need to be cooked inside of pan of water (for example, Craig Clairborne's cheesecake recipe). It is heavy duty aluminum with a solid rim. It has worked well for me, and I anticipate that it will last a long time.

An Excellent Cake Pan
Sheila B

This is an excellent cake pan. I bought my first Wilton pans 2 years ago when baking cakes for my wedding, and my only regret was that I didn't purchase Wilton pans years ago. They are durable, bake evenly, and retain their shape despite my less than tender care in storage. I find the 8 & 10 inch pans the most useful, 8" for family cakes, 10" for bigger parties. You may want to use some parchment paper to line the bottom to ensure an easy release of your cake. And I have now purchased 2 of each size, so that I can bake 2 same sized layers concurrently.

Thin

Wilton is usually a great product, but some of their pans are thinner than the rest, and this is one of them. We have some with a straight edge, and this is slightly curved. If this is a new disign, they used less metal, or not as good quality metal.. something's different. I bake 2 8" at the same time, one with this pan, one with my older version, and this pan turns the cakes brown on the bottom so much faster. Not really happy. We returned it.
